Sometimes things take us by surprise. We think we know people or situations so well and then our world is turned upside down.
Maybe we even think we know ourselves and then through a series of events, we surprise ourselves with what we’re capable of. For me, gymnastics is one of the many areas of my life that has shown me I’m capable of so much more than I give myself credit for.
And I’d venture to say, the same way we sell ourselves short, we often do the same to others unintentionally. We see the person in front of us, and think that’s all there is to them. We dismiss people based on first impressions or because of things we’ve heard. Yet, we never give them the chance to prove us wrong.
I don’t know about you reader, but recently, I’m really enjoying Read More

The title of this post is what echoed in my mind the moment I thought about taking gymnastics classes again. I had recently turned 25 and as much as I missed gymnastics, the thought of putting on a leotard and tumbling around on the floor with children made me cringe.
As a young adult woman, there was a sense of embarrassment at the thought of being in a gymnastics class with 5 year olds. Can you blame me?
So that left me with two options. Read More
Tonight I met up with some friends at a local cafe. We had a great time and I decided to hang out a little longer even after they had left. As I pulled out my laptop, I overheard the table across the way from me speaking about something that caught my ear.
As I listened (discretely) I realized it was a group of women who were meeting to have a little Bible study. Unbeknownst to them, the words they shared were encouraging me and then it made me think. Maybe the same words that encouraged me will encourage you.
I heard one woman saying that sometimes Read More
Or as someone once said…throw those lemons back at life and tell it to make its own. darn. lemonade.

For those of you who know me, you know that my favorite season of the year is fall. Now that we’re in September, I’m counting down the days – 12 to be exact! – until I can wear my boots, scarves, leggings, and sweaters. I love how cozy and comfortable I’m able to be in the crisp fall weather, but I also need to balance that comfort with professionalism, since most of my week is spent at the office. Personally, I enjoy being professional, comfortable, and cute. So after being inspired by so many different articles on fall fashion, I thought I’d share some of my favorite picks with you. If your office dress code is business casual, then look no further than these twelve adorable outfits. Read More
Lately, I’ve been in quite the predicament. I feel like I’m going through this bizarre “quarter-life” crisis. (If you don’t believe me, look it up. Apparently, it’s actually a thing.)
Essentially, it’s something that people in their mid-twenties tend to go through. It’s this feeling of being older even though we’re not old. It’s the time in our lives where most question who they are, who they want to be, and what life goals they have. Over the last decade, I’ve thoughtfully considered who I wanted to be and what I wanted out of life. And by the grace of God, I’ve achieved nearly everything I thought I Read More
Let me begin by saying: it’s a myth. No one is perfect, of that, I am certain. We sometimes live in a bubble, hoping we’ll find out differently. We wish for people to not disappoint us, we hope to be understood, and we do our best to be…perfect.
Our society focuses on hiding all of the blemishes. As women, we’re taught from a young age to hide our flaws. We watch our mothers talk about their body like it’s a liability, instead of the work of art it is. We see a society that praises people so skinny all you can see are their bones, and yet, we aspire to be that. We poke and scrutinize our own faces and freak out at the first sign of a wrinkle, instead of appreciating that we are growing into our womanhood.
Ladies – when did we get this idea that perfection was the standard, let alone, attainable? We know Read More
