Bedtime Lessons

The last few nights of putting the girls to bed, the Lord has been showing me some life lessons.

One night specifically, the littlest was crying because she was scared and didn’t want to go to bed. I had night-lights on, her little stars that project onto the ceiling, and I was even standing in the room (unbeknownst to her) to ensure she was okay. As I stood there, I heard the Lord lovingly whisper “How many times do Christians act this way?”

We cry wail and scream and say “Why??” to all sorts of things, feeling like the louder we scream or cry, the quicker the Lord will come to our rescue. Somehow, we’ve led ourselves to believe that God only comes to our rescue when we complain and whine about our situation. But the Bible says very clearly, “I (God) will never leave you nor forsake you.” It doesn’t matter how big or how small the situation is – He’s there through it ALL!

So, the next time you find yourself with your bottom lip quivering and ready to burst into tears, remember that He is with you, and He always has been. Make your request known unto the Lord, knowing that He loves you and cares for you. Let’s stop believing the lie that we need to scream and cry for Him to hear us, because that’s the farthest thing from the truth.

Instead, rest peacefully in Him, knowing that He is always faithful.

(Disclaimer: Due to protecting the children’s privacy, I won’t be posting pictures of them or sharing their names on this blog – just in case you thought this was one of them. 😉 However, a quick google search can pull up the cutest of photos, don’t you think?)
