Mixed Signals

They are the worst. Regardless of whether it’s happening in a work environment, romantic relationship, or friendship – it’s a roller coaster of a ride that everyone detests. Yes, even those who enjoy feeling their stomach jump into their throat as the roller coaster speedily hurries down the coaster. Even they don’t like mixed signals.

I’ve yet to meet someone who lives for mixed signals. Typically, most people want a solid “yes” or “no”. If you’re lukewarm, you’ll be rejected. Hey, even God feels that way. He says in Revelation 3:16 “I know you inside and out, and find little to my liking. You’re not cold, you’re not hot—far better to be either cold or hot! You’re stale. You’re stagnant. You make me want to vomit.” (Message Translation)

If God can feel that way, I think it gives us permission to as well. Granted, I don’t feel quite as vehemently as God does when people live in a state of mixed signals. However, I definitely don’t take kindly to it.

How about you? Do you like or detest mixed signals? How do you handle them when those situations arise?

    • Absolutely! Often communication via text or instant message also affects the way we “see” what is said. Face to face always makes it easier to get the true feelings across. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
